Chinese export armorial charger with polychromed floral enamel decoration and motto.

The top has the Douglas of Cavers motto DOE OR DIE, an arm holding a broken tilting lance and a crown over a heart representing the Douglas clan.

Retailed by Wm H. Plummer & Co., New York with original paper label. Made in China, circa late 18th-early 19th century.

The plate below is similar, but has a different foral decoration.  The description is a translation from the french original.

Armorial plate bearing the coat of arms of the English Douglas family of Cavers, made of Chinese export porcelain, Rose Family style, Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period (1736–95).
Features a central escutcheon with the motto "Doe or Die" and a crest in the form of a hand holding a broken spear, identifying the Cavers branch. With hairline cracks and minor restorations.
