In 2015, the above armorials (37cm high) and a collection of papers and photographs associated with restoration of Old Hinksley Manor were sold at auction.

A 'Sholto Douglas', probably Sholto Theodore Douglas (1867-1943), is credited with restoring Old Hinksley Manor. Sholto Douglas was living at 'The Court', in Headington from 1925 to about 1929 when he remodelled that house extensively and added a Roman Catholic chapel, which is now a bedroom.

Sholto Theodore Douglas was the son of the renowned architect, John Douglas, who lived in Walmoor Hill, and where the initials STD can be found.

Research note:
•  The broken spear crest is that of the Douglas family of Springwood and of Cavers.  The connection has yet to be identified.
