Helen Douglas, 94, of New York passed away Monday, May 14,
2001 in New York.
Mrs. Douglas was born July 8, 1906 in Corsicana. She had
been a member of Wilgo Baptist Church in Corsicana. After moving to New
York, she united with Ebenezer Baptist Church where she served as
president of Lydia deaconess board, member of the gospel chorus and mass
choir and on the missionary board.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Douglas Jr.; daughter,
Hazel; and sons, Walter, Hobart, Alvin, Theo and Clovis.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by her daughter, Alice Douglas Hill and husband
Louis L. of Austin and Myrtle Douglas of Corona, N.Y.; brother, Eddie
Clayton of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10
great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
including Myrtle Venters and Charlotte Lemmons of Corsicana.
