Rivergaro (Arvargär in Piacenza dialect) is an Italian town of 7,042 inhabitants in the province of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna.

Struggles and skirmishes between the noble families of the area finally ended in 1548 when all the Riverga(1) area became part of the family's possessions Anguissola-Scotti.

Villa Anguissola-Scotti, designed by the architect Lotario Tomba in 1778 on the foundations of the castle of Rivergaro, a fortress that belonged to the Malaspina family after the concession on 29 September 1164 by the emperor Federico Barbarossa to Obizzo Malaspina of various feuds including that of the Trebbia valley. In the following centuries the fort was the cornerstone of the Ghibelline resistance in Piacenza. Later the area passed to the Scotti and then to the Anguissola in the episcopal county of Piacenza.

After the sixteenth century it was abandoned and, finally, the villa was built on its remains. The building, owned by the Anguissola-Scotti family, is located near the parish church.
