Located on the Westland Tai Poutini National Park in New Zealand, Douglas Rock Hut, first promised in 1917, was finished in 1931 & subsequently leased to the Graham brothers. It was upgraded in 1977.

The Douglas Rock Hut in Westland Tai Poutini National Park is named after Charlie Douglas, a renowned surveyor and explorer of New Zealand’s West Coast. He spent decades mapping the rugged terrain and was instrumental in documenting the region’s geography. His contributions to exploration earned him recognition, and several landmarks, including this hut, bear his name.

Douglas was known for his resilience and deep knowledge of the wilderness. His work helped shape the understanding of the West Coast’s landscapes, making him a legendary figure in New Zealand’s history
