Index of first names

Art deco tower block design 1926 Douglass table cigarette lighter. The lighter uses a wheel and flint mechanism operated by a push button thumb press. The body is of chrome and it does have some age related wear and small dents here and there. The two tier base has dents to some of its sides. The flint tube is clear but the spring does not quite push the flint far enough and may need stretching.

The lighter was developed by Leon Douglass of California, designed with a long narrow arm mounted above a flint wheel which when triggered releases backward to shower sparks upon the wick. It was patented in Oct.12.1926, and it stands 4ins high. The base of the lighter has the above information stamped.

H&N are presumably the owners.

Douglass lighters are still being manufactured - apparently in Japan.
