Homecoming Scotland

During Homecoming Scotland 2009 we'll be celebrating with a year-long programme of events to highlight Scotland's great contributions to the world: Robert Burns (the 250th anniversary of his birth is in 2009), golf, whisky, great minds & innovations and Scotland's rich ancestry and culture An Tilleadh Albannach...Tuilleadh

Organisations all over the country are currently planning Homecoming activity and invite you to join the celebrations. From Orkney to Aberdeen, from Oban to the Scottish Borders, there will be a packed calendar of events and activities to choose from.

Here, in the Douglas Archives, we give a little taster of what is happening, but fuller details can be found in the key websotes:

The Douglases organised a clan tent at the Clan Gathering, and we were pleased to see many of the family/clan there. Read more in the Community Network.

We have planned out an itinery for those visiting Scotland which will allow you to visit the key places relating to Douglas history.  Of course, for those tracing their ancestry, you will want to take in places that your branch of the family originated from.  You can modify these suggestions to suit.
