Charles Douglas, 3rd Duke of Queensberry, 2nd Duke of Dover, Viscount Tibbers and Lord Douglas of Lockerby, Dalveen and Thornhill (1698–1778) was third son of the 2nd Duke.  He was created Earl of Solway on 17 June 1707 in the peerage of Scotland for the great services of his father and ancestors.

The title became extinct on his death in 1778
