Charlie Daze was born on 10th May 1938, possibly in Scotland(1). He is an actor, known for The Comedians (1971), Blankety Blank (1979) and Starburst (1980).

Charlie was a member of a family of 13 brought up in Union Street in Edgarstown. He played football for Portadown before moving to England and entering showbusiness. His brother Michael also entered showbusiness and went on to win the ITV talent show ‘New Faces’ to map out a showbusiness career too.

Charlie Douglas won Hughie Green’s ‘Opportunity Knocks’ talent show on five occasions and then spent years on the national showbusiness circuit as comedian Charlie Daze

In about 1990, Charlie, after many summer seasons in Jersey, and his wife Patrice decided to move from their then-home in the Midlands and settle in her home island of Jersey, where Patrice was born and brought up in St Martin's.

Charlie never forgot his football career, and set up a football academy between St Ouen FC and Leeds United for young players.

Patrice died of cancer last year; he has three sons.
