Sandy, Well, I might not be such a blessing because I can't findmuch on John Martin either. I know Peter had a brother, John, who'smother was Eve, Johann's second wife. I know that Peter and hisfamily moved to Woodford Co. Ky. about 1790 and lived on a farm about6 miles east of Shelbyville, near Clay Villiage. Peter is supposed tohave been burried on the farm.
I got my info. from Marjorie (Martin) Souder, who wrote the book aboutPeter Martin's family. She says in one sentence that Peter witnessedSamuel Martin's power of attorney to John Martin in Woodford Co. Ky in1796. I guess this would be his brother? Another passage talks aboutPeter's will in 1807 and was proved by Aaron, John and James Martin. But he had sons by those names so that's probably who they were. Thiswas in the Shelby Co. Will Book 2, pg 157.
I sent for the book "Ancestry and Desendants of the Nassau-SiegenImmigrants to Virginia" but it doesn't say much about Johann Jost'sson John.

Sandy, I found another book that I had, The Germanna Record book1, and in it it talks about John Martin and James.
The first John Martin is said to be the son of John Joseph Martin b.1735-39, and died in Fauquier Co. Va. in 1823. He married first wife,Caty, and a second wife in 1803 named Peggy. They had 3 kids, Louisa,Henry, and Elizabeth. Also it says that he had son by Caty, who wasElias, another named John Jr., and possibly one named James LeeMartin. Bingo!!! and maybe Hezekiah, but he was probably Tillmansson.
It says that from 1794 - 1810 two James Martins are shown asindependent tithables in Fauquier Co. One of these James Martins wasthe son of Tillman Martin, bro. of John. The other may have been ason John by the first marriage. The second James is called usuallyJames L. or James Lee Martin to distinquish him from Tillman's son. Both James Martins disappear in 1811, but that year Ann Martin appearswith Samuel Martin as a tithable in her family. Ann was perhaps thewidow of James Lee Martin, and Samuel, her son. Samuel married PollyGary in 1813. It says James Lee Martin was probably born around1765-70.
Now... there is another John Martin mentioned later in the book asbeing the son of Jacob Martin, or possibly John Martin. Confused yet? Anyway... He was said to have married Sarah Jefferies in FauquierCo. Va. in 1778, moved to Kentucky, and was drowned near ShelbyvilleKy, 6 weeks after his arrival while trying to cross the Dick's River. No mention of James in this account.

Sandy, Neat Christmas card!! As for Tillman, my info. does'nt saymuch about him. He was born 1730-35 married to Elizabeth, had adaughter who married Elijah Darnall prior to 1778. A daughter,Eleanor, who married Robert Smith of the same year. A son, James, b.1765-8, married Agatha Hughs 1789. A son Hezekiah b1770-73, marriedLena Stevenson 1794. Another daughter, Elizabeth, b.1773-6 marriedWilliam Stanners, 1793. And a son Tillman b. 1777-8 married CatherineKerns 1808.
Peter had other brothers that had sons James and John I think. Maybelook into their lines also. John Martin's son, James married KittieNeely and had no sons by the name of James or William.
Keep me posted on your future discoveries! Marla

    Notes:

"The First Germanna Colony arrived in Virginia in the spring of 1714,and then came up the Rappahannock River to Tappahannock where theydisembarked and made their way overland to the place where they wouldbe settled 20 miles west of present day Fredericksburg at a locationthat would be called Fort Germanna.
Lt. Governor Alexander Spotswood wrote to the Board of Trade in Londonin May 1714 stating the Germans were invited to Virginia by Baron deGraffenreid who had Her Majesty, Queen Anne's letter to the Governorto furnish them land after their arrival.
    Germanna, First Colony of 1714
The 1714 Colonists did not leave their homes in Germany not knowingtheir destination, nor were they compelled to do so. They were engagedto perform a specific job in Virginia for the George Ritter company, which had approval for a silver mining scheme from The Board of Tradeand Plantations with the approbation of Queen Anne. They knew wherethey were going, and what they were to do. They came from the ancientiron making capital of Europe, located in one of the most industriousprovinces of Germany. A few were familiar with mining and themechanics of making iron, others were farmers, carters, colliers, teachers and clockmakers. They were an intelligent, progressive set ofpeople.

Two German Colonies came to Virginia during the administration of Lt.Governor Alexander Spotswood and settled at or near Germanna in 1714and 1717. The first consisted of 14 men with a total of 42 persons, asshown by an order of the Virginia Council passed April 28, 1714. Thisorder provided that a fort should be built for them, that two cannonsand some ammunition should be furnished, and a road cleared to thesettlement. The order also shows that the Colony had only recentlyarrived in Virginia. Mr. Charles E. Kemper, a Germanna descendant ofStaunton, Virginia, contributed an article to the Virginia Magazine ofHistory and Biography (Vol. XIII, pp.
367-70) and gives their names as follows:
Jacob Holtzclaw, wife Margaret, sons John and Henry
JOHN JOSEPH MARTIN, AND WIFE MARIA KATHRINA
    John Spillman, wife Mary
    Herman Fishback, wife Kathrina
    John Hoffman, wife Kathrina
Joseph Coons, wife Kathrina, son John, Annalis, daughter Kathrina
    John Fishback, wife Agnes
Jacob Rector, wife Elizabeth, son John
    Melchior Brumback, wife Elizabeth
    Tillman Weaver, mother Ann Weaver
    Peter Hitt, wife Elizabeth".
"After 1719, the First Germanna Colony of 1714 moved to StaffordCounty (now Fauquier County) where they made the first settlement inthis area called Germantown. This site is now largely occupied byCrockett Park with a large lake that has much of the originalsettlement of Germantown under water. An old cemetery, located onprivate property, is believed to have the graves of some families ofthe Germantown Settlement and the First Germanna Colony of 1714."
