  1. 1.  William "Sweaty Swamp" Bethea was born in 1725 in South Carolina, USA; died in May 1783 in South Carolina, USA.

    Notes:

    John, third, emigrated to South Carolina, about the middle of the eighteenth century, or a little later, and settled on Buck Swamp, about two miles above the present town of Latta. His brother, William, about the same time, came to South Carolina (or they may have come together), and settled on Sweat Swamp, three or four miles above Harlleesville.
    These were the progenitors of all the Betheas and their numerous connections in Marion County, and, I suppose, throughout the Western States.

    William married Sarah Goodman WFT est 1744-1768. Sarah was born in 1730 in South Carolina, USA; died in 1776 in South Carolina, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
