Data on Gen. George Mathews continued.

For the aforementioned account of the last years of General Mathews' life and the abortive attempt to capture Florida, see:
PATRICK, Dr. Rembert W., Florida Fiasco (Rampant Rebels on the Georgia-Florida Border 1810-1815), University of Georgia Press, Athens, 1954.
Most of the above books are available at larger libraries, and/or can be obtained on inter-library loan.
The Will of General George Mathews, shown elsewhere in these pages, mentions lands in Scioto County, Ohio, which he leaves to the sons of his deceased son, John Mathews. The following records from Scioto County show what disposition the legatees made of the property, and sheds some light on the heirs themselves.
