He attended The Citadel, but dropped out to become a Naval Aviation Cadet during World War I. The war ended before he completed training, so he returned to The Citadel and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering with an eye towards a career in public health. After working for a while, he attended the Medical College of South Carolina and graduated. He was selected to work with the yellow fever project, went to Nigeria shortly after being married, and died there of yellow fever.Theodore married Anne Roselle Hundley on 29 Nov 1925.
