- Maj.-Gen. Sir Barrington Bulkeley Campbell, 3rd Baron Blythswood was baptised with the name of Barrington Bulkeley Douglas. He was decorated with the Royal Humane Society Medal (for saving a life) in 1889. He gained the rank of Major-General in 1898. He was invested as a Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.). He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.). He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Guernsey between 1903 and 1908.
On 1908 his name was legally changed to Barrington Bulkeley Douglas-Campbell.
On 1916 his name was legally changed to Barrington Bulkeley Campbell He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Blythswood, co. Renfrew [U.K., 1892] on 30 September 1916.
