Isaiah JONES, farmer, Newtown, was born Oct 26, 1833 on the BigShawnee, in Shawnee Twp. He was the son of Isaiah and Leah SlaughterJones. In 1827 his father came out from Ohio to view the country andwas so impressed with it snatural advantages that he resolved toemigrate, which he did the next year. He leased a farm from DavidBookwater in Shawnee Twp and lived there a few years; after this hemoved to Richland Twp and entered a tract of 160 acres, one half lyingin this and the other in Shawnee Twp. He also entered 80 acres ofwoodland in Van Buren. Mr. Jones' mother died May 26, 1861 ated 65years and his father, Jan 25, 1877 aged 84. He was married Oct 2, 1862to Rebecca Jane, daughter of Isaac Rice, an early settler and leadingcitizen of Richland Twp. She was born March 5, 1843. T hey have 3children living and two dead: Elizabeth born Sept 21, 1863; WilliamIsaac April 8, 1866; Della May, Jan 25, 1869; Addie Lee Nov 6, 1871and an infant deceased. He is a democrat.
