"Vern And Georgiana Fulwider Clore
Georgiana Fulwider was born Dec. 9, 1906, near Wingate, in MontgomeryCo., IN, the oldest daughter of Walter and Eva May Gravett Fulwider.Her grandfather, Jacob Fulwider, had come to Indiana from Virginia inthe 1850's with his parents, Joseph and Sarah Houff Fulwider and eightbrothers and sisters.
Georgiana (Georgia) grew-up on the family farm near Wingate. When shewas 14, her family moved to a farm in Brown Township near the Shades(Shades State Park). She attended school at Waveland.
Vern Clore was born in Parke County, May 13, 1897, on his father'sfarm in the northeast corner of Howard Township. He was the son ofErastus and Elvie Keeling Clore, grandson of Berriman and Mary RiceClore and of Dexter and Mary Lowe Keeling. His great grandparents,Israel and Frances Deer Clore, came to Indiana in 1831, where Israelobtained a patent deed at the land office at Crawfordsville for landin Howard Township, Parke County.
Vern and Georgia were married in 1925 and lived with his family fortwo years. In 1927, they moved to Byron, where they owned andoperated the Byron Store. They sold the store in the 1930s to Forrestand Betty Coleman.
In 1932, their daughter, Carol Jean, was born. Georgia's brothers andsisters, Gaynell, Bud, Joe, Fred and Bettie and other family memberslived with them at various times. Their home was a gathering placefor family, friends, and neighbors.
Vern and his daughter, Carol, both loved horses and participated atthe local fairs and horse shows in the 1930s and 1940s.
In 1941, they moved to a small farm at the east edge of Waveland inMontgomery County.
Vern was a farmer, trucker, logger, livestock trader, and had a horseand mule breeding business.
Georgia was known for her cooking and gracious hospitality. She wasalways there to help family, friends, and neighbors.
Vern died May 9, 1972, just four days before his 75th birthday.
After Vern's death, Georgia baby sat for Carl and Jane Steiner for 11years, helping to raise their three daughters--Amy, Ann and Alice.She considered them a part of her family. She died Mar. 27, 1984.
Their daughter, Carol, married Ronald Rivers in 1950. They have threegrown children: Ronna, Bret, and Curtis. Bret married PeggyKowalski. they have a daughter, Ruth Anna. Curt married AllisonPurvis, and they have two sons: Mitchel Curtis and Matthew Clinton.
Ron and Carol live in Kokomo, IN., where Ron is a senior researchassociate with Haynes International, Inc. Carol is a retiredabstractor." [Transcribed 20 January 2008, SLJuhl, compiler, dau.]
