- Sir Ralph Assheton, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Assheton, of Middleton, co. Lancaster [E., 1660] on 23 April 1665. He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 16 July 1668.
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Liverpool between March 1677 and 1679.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire between February 1694 and 1698.
On 11 June 1696 he inherited the estate of Whalley from his unle, Sir John Assheton, 4th and last Bt. of Lever,
