Notes |
- Sarah Josephine was born 22 Feb 1852 Calhoun, Gordon Co., Georgia to Madison Martin Douglass and Sarah Bonham. She is a direct descendant of Edward Fuller, Mayflower Compact Signer. Both her parents were born in Blount Co., Tennessee.
She married Benjamin Franklin Anderson in 1872 in Arkansas and settled for a while around family in Vinita, Indian Territory, Cherokee Nation in 1900. They had ten children, three girls and seven boys. Their names were Alonzo, Columbus, Benjamin Jr., Osker, Leola, Troy, Homer Claude, Zena, Otis Atwood, and Cora.
They left Vinita in 1914 and moved to Rossland, British Columbia, Canada. Family lore said they were tired of the US government and left the country, although that is unverified. She died of cardiac failure in Rossland. (This section of the bio by her great-great granddaughter).
