"Funeral Services for Emily Hanna On Wednesday in Her Orion Home
NATIVE OF PENNSYLVANIA, WHO DIED AT AGE OF 84; ACTIVE IN CHURCH WORK
Orion, July 14. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Emily Hanna, aged 84, whodied in Moline Lutheran hospital at 5:50 yesterday morning, will beheld at 2 Wednesday afternoon in her home here with the Rev. C.S. Boydofficiating. Burial will be in Western Cemetery. Pallbearers willinclude Asher Love, Arthur Love, Edgar Love, Lester McLease, HaroldLove and Lloyd Love. Mrs. Hanna suffered a stroke June 29. She hadbeen failing in health about two years.

A native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she was born March 3,1858, Emily L. Finlay was the daughter of William and Matilda Finlay.she was reared and educated in Pennsylvania, living there until shewas 11 years old. She had been a resident of Orion forty-nine yearsand in Rock Island County seventy-three years. She was married toCharles R. Hanna Dec. 19, 1883, on a farm northeast of Orion. Herhusband died Aug., 20, 1927. Mrs Hanna held office in many churchsocieties and was district treasurer of the Woman's Home Missionarysociety of the Methodist many years. She also was president of theladies' aid society a long time and taught a class in the primarydepartment of the Sunday school twenty-five years.

She was a member of the Women's Relief corps and as a girl was amember of the Good Templars and later a member of the W.C.T.U.
Mrs. Hanna was of a philanthropic nature and contributed generously tochildren's homes, church organizations and hospitals as well as toWestern Township Public Library. Library Benefactor Succumbs in Lutheran Hospital; Rites Wednesday.
Orion, July 13. -- Mrs. Emily L. Hanna, widow of Charles R. Hanna,died at 5:50 this morning in Moline Lutheran hospital. She had beenill two weeks and a hospital patient several days. Mrs. Hanna was 84. It is expected funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon.Arrangements were being completed today. The body was removed to theAnderson-Swanson funeral home. Mrs. Hanna was a long-time resident ofthis community. Her gift of $5000 made it possible for the Orionlibrary board to erect a new building, dedicated in September, 1932,without incurring a cent of expense. Her husband was a librarytrustee here more than a score of years, before his death in 1927. Inhis will he left eighty acres of land for endowment and building fundpurposes."
