DEATH OF MR. C.W. POPHAM.— We regret to have to announce the death of Mr.
Christopher Wallis Popham, of Trevarno, near Helston. The deceased gentleman, who
owned large properties in the parish of Sithney, married, in 1832, Elizabeth Harriet,
daughter of the late Sir Vyell Vyvyan, Bart., of Trelowarren, and leaves issue three sons
and two daughters, the eldest of the former being the Rev. V. Popham, of Illogan. In
1833 Mr. Popham filled the office of High Sheriff of Cornwall. He was a deputylieutenant of the county, a magistrate, and chairman of the Helston Board of Guardians.
Though suffering from a long and painful illness, Mr. Popham's death came at last rather
unexpectedly. He died on his 69th birthday. The deceased gentleman was much
respected by a large circle of friends, as well as by all his neighbours, and tenantry.
