Notes |
- Benjamin Douglas 1805-1875 worked for the Hudson Bay Fur Trading Co. for 3 years. (1832-1835) He went from Black Brook, NY to Oregon working as a "middle man" (common laborer).
In Black Brook his trade was collier (making charcoal).
His son, George W. , (also a collier) migrated to upper Michigan where wood was plentiful for making charcoal.
Two of Benjamin's sons, Henry and John, died in service during the American Civil War.
