"Charles fought in the Civil War. Charles met his death on September09, 1863 at the old home place where he was born. He was burying somemoney and family valuables in an old log corn crib, to hide them fromthe bush whackers who were robbing and burning homes in the area.Charles was carrying a pistol in his belt and as he was digging, thegun fell to the ground, discharging, shooting and killing himinstantly" [Transcribed by, sljuhl, 23 Jun 2005]
