SOURCE: (JE), Page 71, Vol. I: "Joel Clore was born in Virginia andimmigrated with his parents from Virginia to Kentucky prior to thelast war of Great Britian. He met and married, Sarah Rice, who wasborn about 1810. In the Fall of 1828, they came to Indiana, makingthe trip down the Ohio and up the Wabash river in a keel boat.Frederick Wineland and his family, plus some others were in the party. they disembarked in Montezuma, (Parke County), Indiana. Joel settledin Brown Township in Montgomery County, Indiana. After residence ofsome thirteen years there, he moved into Sugar Creek Township, nowHoward Township, in Parke County, Indiana. He was in the habit offlat-boating to New Orleans, and while at Lake Providence, Louisiana,on one of his trips was taken sick and died there. Sarah lived to beseventy years old."
