For many years,Mary Louisa, and her husband, the Rev Edmund McClure (Editorial Secretary of the SPCK), lived in Eccleston Square, built by Thomas Cubitt.
Mary Louisa (or Louise) (1857-1918) translated books on Egyptian archaeology from French, which were published by SPCK. She also wrote children's books introducing Christian ideas and practice, and translated the memoir of Egeria, the first recorded Christian pilgrim (from ?Latin, with help from her brother).
She was the first person to explore Prince Arthur's chantry chapel in Worcester Cathedral, mostly about identifying the 88 saints' statues on it.
