In the name of God Amen this 1st day of april AD. 1789. I John Pettibone of
Simsbury in the County of Hartford and State of
Connetticut being in a weak and _____ state of
bodily health, but of sound mind and memmory,
thanks be to God therefor ~ and calling to Mind that
it is appointed for all men to die and considering
My own Mortality I do make and ordain this
My last Will and Testament. And personally and
first of all, I recemmend My soul into the hands
of God that gave it, and My body to the earth
after my death to be buried in a decent manner
according [crossed out] at the discression of My friends and
such my worldly estate, wherewith God hath been
pleased to blefs me with in this life, I do give
in the following Manner. Item after My just
debts and funeral charges are paid I give unto
My beloved Wife Susannah Pettibone the one
third part [crossed out] of My Moveable estate to be her own
for ever. And the one third part of all My
freehold. estate: to use and improve during her
natural life and also the use and improvement
of the one half of My dwelling house and barn
during her natural life.

I give and bequeath unto My
oldest daughter Larinda Cornish, Now wife of
Joel Cornish Jr 23 pounds lawful Money. worth
of wheat rye or indian corn or neat cattle
to be paid to her within three years next after
My decease,
Item,
I give and bequeath unto My
Youngest daughter Charity the sum of 38 pounds
lawful money. worth of Wheat Rye or Indian Corn
or neat cattle. to be paid to her by My Executors
When she shall arrive at the age of 19 Years old
And if the above legacies are paid in neat
cattle, or any part thereof they are to be appraised
by indifferent Men;
Item,
I give and bequeath unto My
only son John Pettibone all the remanetrs of
all My personal and freehold estate that I shall
die pofsefsed of. And I do appoint My loving wife
Susannah, and My son John Pettibone to be
My executors, on this My last Will and Testament
And I do renounce all other wills and do declare
this, to be My last will and testament in witnefs
Whereof, I have hereunto set My hand and seal
this 1st day of April A.D. 1789

Johnathan Pettibone} day of October 1794. and
Salvanus Umphrey. } proved and approved and
here recorded and eight.
