"Mrs. Clay M. Rice, native of County, dies at hospital (1948, unknownday or month)
Mrs. Nellie Lou Douglas(s) Rice, 62, wife of Clay M. Rice, ofCrawfordsville, died at Culver Hospital at 2:10 o'clock Wednesdaymorning following an illness of three days. Mrs. Rice suffered acoronary thrombosis Sunday morning and bacame a patient at thehospital Monday. Born Nov. 30, 1886 in Montgomery County, in the NewMarket neighborhood, Mrs. Rice was the daughter of Joseph (S.) and(Sarah) Sallie McMullen Douglas(s). Mr. and Mrs. Rice were marriedNov. 24, 1909. The husband, three daughters and six grandchildrensurvive. Daughters are Mrs. Fern Boots, of near Crawfordsville, Mrs.Mildred Stickler, of near New Market and Mrs. Reba Wyant, of Phoenix,Arizona. Mrs. Rice is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Clara(Douglass) Brann, of New Market, and a brother, (Lewis) WalterDouglas(s), of Crawfordsville. A member of the First Baptist Churchof Crawfordsville, Mrs. Rice had long been very active in church work. Mr. rice was engaged in carpentry work here for many years. Rev.George T. King, pastor of the Church, will officiate at the funeralservices to be conducted at the Church at 10:00 o'clock Fridaymorning. Burial will be made at Masonic Cemetery.
