- The information below is from Sandi Hartnell, (hartnellsl@attbi.com) whosays "Most of the early stuff was compiled by my grandmother's twinsister, Mina Lyon Rife. She dated the material 1956. She did a lot ofresearch, and attributed some of the material from a 3 volumes titled"Lyon Memorial". She indicated they were purchased in Boston at GoodspeedBook Store. I visited Glamis Castle about 10 years ago and haveguidebooks from there that had family information, and I also picked upsome information from various web sites. "

He was Sir/6th (sometimes3rd) High Steward from 1291-1326/Regent of Scotland, and Commander atBannockburn, 1314. Prior to Marjorie he was married to Alice Erskine.They had one child, Jean Stewart. After Marjorie's death he marriedIsabel de Graham,. She was born about 1298 Abercorn, West Lothian,Scotland. They had one child, Edigia Stewart. of Scotland. They weremarried 10/3/1376. He was Knighted in 1377; John (Sir) was madeKing-at-arms, the right to carry "double treasure fleuried and counter,fleuried in the bearing." Glamis Castle, royal resident since KingKenith I, 50 AD, was passed to John de Lyon and he was made Lord Glamis,and later High Lord Chamberlain of Scotland, and Ambassador to England.He became the head of the Lyon family of Scotland. He was a young man ofvery good parts and qualities, graceful and comely, and a great favoriteof the King. Being very fair he was known as the White Lyon.

III Lord of Kingborne. He marriedIsabella (Ogilvie) Ogilvy2, born 1406 in Linthrathen, Scotland. She diedin 1484. He died in March 21, 1459 in Bellhelvies..
13 Alexander, born 1429, was made II Lord Glamis. He had no sonsand the Barony devolved upon second son at his death in 1486.

He married Elizabeth Scrymgeuorborn 1435 in Dunhope, Angusshire, Scotland. Elizabeth died October 20,1492. Elisabeth is the daughter of John Scrymgeour.
