Notes:

The Pennsylvania "Gibsons" have quite a long history in the State. Tobe able to tell where this John Gibson fits in will take a great dealof research and time. Possibly, the family is originally, it wouldseem, from Ireland in the early c.1600's or John Gibson could be animmigrant. There is even discussion on the Internet about the familyoriginating in Scotland, and then to Ireland and then toAmerica--Pennsylvania, but there is nothing conclusive. There were agreat many Scotch-Irish located in Pennsylvania.
In trying to trace the family lineage, there has not been muchdocumentation on them. Since Westmoreland County had difficulty withthe Indian tribes prior to c.1790, when we find John Gibson in thecensus record, it's really uncertain if the family was from thatcounty for some years or had moved there from another county beforethe c.1790 census.
Regardless, John has a wife and child in the c.1790 census.

John and his sons have moved onto Armstrong Township, WestmorelandCounty, Pennsylvania by the time of the c.1800 census. No "Gibson" isfound in the c.1800 census for North Huntington Township, WestmorelandCounty, Pennsylvania.
