4. | Andrew (of Muirtown) Gray (son of Andrew 2nd Lord Gray and Elizabeth (of Atholl) Stewart); died before 13 Apr 1541. Notes:
"Andrew Gray of Muirtown (d by 13.04.1541)
m. heiress of Scheves
1. Patrick Gray of Balgillo
Probably but not definitely sons of Andrew of Muirtown were Andrew andanother (Alexander ?). Under the entry for the 2nd Lord Gray, TSP reportsan Andrew as a possible son of Andrew of Muirtown and a possible ancestorof Sir William of Pittendrum. Above the entry for the 8th Lord Grey, TSPreports that Thomas Gray of Brighouse (father of Sir William) was nephew(possibly grand-nephew ? the wording is rather ambiguous) of Andrew orAlexander of Scheves, son of Andrew of Muirtown. The following issomewhat presumptuous for the next generation and may be reviewed in duecourse.
2. Alexander Gray of Scheves
3. Andrew Gray "

9. | Elizabeth (of Atholl) Stewart (daughter of John (1st Earl of Atholl) Stewart and Margaret (Fair Maid of Galloway) Douglas); and died. Notes:
The Complete Peerage by G E Cokayne shows Elizabeth Stewart of Atholl whomarried John (12th Earl Lennox) Stewart & Ninian (of Halkhead) 3rd LordRoss to be the daughter of Eleanor Sinclair & John (1st Earl of Atholl)Stewart. Whereas the mother of Elizabeth Stewart, who married Andrew 2ndLord Gray, is shown as Margaret (Fair Maid of Galloway) Douglas.
It seems a bit uncreative to name daughters of different wives by thesame name, but apparently it is possible (if that source is correct).
However Stirnet Genealogy (athttp://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/british/ss4tz/stewart04.htm ) showsAnne Stewart as husband of John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Lennox (he died in09.1526 so is probably the same person as the 12th Earl). But they havenothing on Ninian (of Halkhead) 3rd Lord Ross. So maybe that Elizabeth isAnne, who knows?
