    Hi Sandra,
    I was surfing the Rootsweb trees and thought I might be able to add atouch to yours.
    I123330, Engelbert Julich (my ggg.grandfather);
    b. abt. Oct 9, 1798, Altenahr, Germany. This is the date he wasbaptized, and it was their custom to do so on the day of birth, or thesoonest date humanly possible.
    d. April 7, 1876, Lyons, Clinton Co., Iowa. Buried, St. Bonifacecem., Clinton Co., IA.
    I23331, Anna Catherine "Simmons" (my ggg.grandmother and mygggg.aunt---double related).
    b. Oct. 23, 1805, Kreuzberg, Germany.
    d. 1886, Arcadia, Carroll Co., Iowa. Buried, St. John's cem.,Arcadia, Carroll Co., IA.
    I realize spelling is not terribly important, but just thought I'dmention, I've not heard of Anna Catherine using the double m spelling. Only Simon or Simons. The usual spelling in our family was/is Simons(I have records to 1710).
    123319, Anna Mary Julich.
    d. 1 week before her sister (est. about Nov. 3, 1907), who died Nov.10, 1907.
    From the obit of her sister, Margaretha Johanna Julich (wife of JohannAnton Simons), "Besides her husband and children she leaves onesister, Mrs. Kate Rust, at Arcadia, who is the mother of H.H. Rust andMrs. Sauber, at Kenwood. This sister is the last of her family.Another sister died at Fulton, Ill, only last week. Her husband washere visiting. Sunday she wrote him a letter, which he received thenext day, and Tuesday morning he received a message that she had diedthe night before."
    Margaretha Julich and Johann Simons are my gg. grands. They were 1stcousins.
    Regarding the alternate spelling of Gulich; Gulich, Ullich, etc. arevariations associated with families who came from Julich, Germany, butI've found no one in our family who used either. Our usual spellingis Julich. The only variation I've found is Juelich.
    23312, Peter Hubert (or Hubertus) Cossman.
    Copman is not an alternative spelling. Although the transcript of theClinton Co., marriage book says Copman, it is incorrect. I've notseen the original record, but rather suspect it has the old fashionedlower case double ss, in which the 1st s is written with a tail(commonly miss-transcribed as an f or p).
    Well, I think that's about it. Hope there's something in this you canuse.
