  1. 1.  Stephen Popham was born in 1745 in Cork, Ireland (son of Joseph Popham and Mary Riggs); and died.

  1. 2.  Joseph Popham was born in 1710 (son of William Popham and Anne Allen); died in 1774.

    Notes:

    of Cork, consul at Sallee and later Consul General at Tetuan, Morocco, from 1728, and in1761 was Consul General at Tetuan (Morocco) til expelled in 1770

    It appears that he a Deed of Agreement dated 1st March 1739 relating to an intention to marry his cousin Mary Riggs, daughter of Mrs Anne Riggs, of Riggsdale. There were apparently five sons.

    It is claimed that he had more than 20 children, though this is unsupported by any evidence found.

    His grandson, General William, was living in 1815

    (Research):Possibly masrried again in 1722 to Ann Shelby, who died 1737.

    (Research):Possible son of Abraham and Tamsin (or Thomasine), baptised at Bridgewater in 1727. The popham naming tradition seems to prove this.
