Her daughter Josephine A. Reed Anderson lived inPortland, Ore. In 1935, her son Harry was killed in a train accidentwhile in the Marine Corps. in San Diego, California at the age of 20years. Myrtle's parents were John Nelson & Laura Bean Fuller Jack ofMercer and Rock Island Counties in Illinois. Myrtle was born in Julyof 1885, in Mercer County, Illinois. Her first marriage was to ArthurJohn Reed, the father of her children. Her second marriage was toRiley E. Miller of Millersburg, Mercer County, Illinois, a life timeresident of the area.     William Henry Reed, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. HenryMiller, 268 Benton street, Monday, and whose funeral was heldWednesday, was a veteran of the Civil War, having been a member ofCompany A, Thirteenth Illinois, Seventeeth Army Corps.
    Mr. Reed had lived in Portland about 2 years. He was born June 30,1847. For a time he lived at Kalispell, Mont. Besides his widow, eightchildren survive. They are: Elmer S. Reed and Mrs. Henry Miller,Portland; Mrs. Ira Smith and Arthur Reed, Galesburg, Ill., Riley Reed,New Boston, Ill.; Mrs. George Hippert and Mrs. William Halligan,Boring, Or.; and Mrs. Margaret Anderson, who lives in California."

    The Thirtieth Infantry Illinois Volunteers was organized
    at Camp Butler Illinois, August 28, 1861, Colonel P. B. Fouke,
    commanding.
    September 1, 1861, moved to Cairo, Illinois, and was
    assigned to Brigadier General John A. McClernand's Brigade-
    Brigadier General U. S. Grant commanding District of Cairo, and
    Major General John C. Fremont, commanding Department of
    Missouri.
    October 22, went on scout into Kentucky, near Columbus.
    November 7, was engaged in the battle of Belmont. The
    Regiment did gallant service during this action, and captured
    the celebrated "Watson's New Orleans Battery."
    January 10, 1862, moved from Cairo on a reconnaissance

    Andrew Jackson Reed was born June 14, 1814, in the state of SouthCarolina, and died in New Boston, Illinois, April 29, 1893, at 8o'clock a.m., being 78 years, 10 months and 15 days old, his deathbeing the result of La Grippe. His remains were taken from New Bostonand laid away for eternal rest In Eliza cemetery, April 30th, at 1p.m., a large concourse of people being in attendance. He leaves awidow and eight children, four boys and four girls, who have thesympathy of the community in this dark hour of their bereavement.Sept. 5, 1862, he enlisted in Co A., 30 Ill. Vol.; was honorablydischarged July 17, 1865, having served his country 2 years, 10 monthsand 12 days, thereby showing his patriotism for the country he loved.Exercises at the grave were conducted by M.
