6. | Israel Putnam Case was born on 24 Jun 1781 in Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT (son of Israel Case and Joanna Case); died on 20 Sep 1832 in Worthington, Franklin Co., OH; was buried on 23 Sep 1832 in Worthington, Franklin Co., OH. Notes: Israel P. Case, referred to as Putnam in his father's will, was a member of the Scioto Company advance work party in the summer of 1803 and became a proprietor himself receiving two town lots and a 93 acre farm lot in partnership with Abner P. Pinney. He was one of the incorporators of St. John's Episcopal Church in 1807. During the war of 1812 he served as the militia captain of a light infantry company in the 1st Battalion of the 3rd Regiment which was called out may 29, 1812 for approximately three months service. Israel and Laurinda's family lived on a seventy-one acre farm north of Worthington between the Delaware pike and the Whetstone River. This was sold after his death for $28 per acre, indicating significant impairments. He also owned property west of the river just south of the road to Dublin where 40 acres was set aside to his widow. According to the cemetery sexton, Israel P.'s death in 1832 was caused by 'intemperance.' Laurinda was left with seven children, most still in school.
