    John was President of Robert Douglas Marine Ltd., and Past President of R.A.Douglas Ltd., companies specializing in marine construction throughout Atlantic Canada. He was actively involved in business and community affairs.
    A member of Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, NS.,
    Past President of the Nova Scotia Road Builders Association, Abercrombie Country and Bluenose Curling Club and the St. Andrews Society. John was a former director of the Bank of Canada, Sydney Steel Corporation, Trenton Works Ltd., Federal Business Development Bank (F.B.D.B.), PICORD, Pictou Regional Development Commission and a board member of several other Nova Scotia companies.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Edna McWilliam, daughters, Heather ((Michael Vissers), Bridgewater, NS, Libby (Bill Cameron), Dartmouth, NS; son Rob (Donna Cameron), New Glasgow, NS, and grandchildren John and Jennifer Douglas; sister Mary McInnes (Peter),
