They (Daryl's informationindicates his mother died in England and is buried in Dorsetshire)accompanied with their son when he came to America in 1843 and lived on afarm in Brighton township where both died, the father reaching the age ofmore than 80 years. After coming to Wisconsin John Hartnell, the son,bought 160 acres of land to which he added later until he had a farm of360 acres, all well improved. 5 JOHN HARTNELL was born in July 1789 in Chaldon Herring, Dorset,Dorsetshire, England. He In 1813 at Owenmoigne, Doresetshire, Johnmarried Elizabeth Penney in the presence of Thomas Hartnell and CharlesGarland. It is believed that the couple had only one child, JohnHartnell, Jr. At his son's birth, John was recorded as a dairyman.

In 1844 after the death of John's wife, he with his son, his son's wifeand their first-born child removed to the United States. He bought afarm in Section 34 of Brighton Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin wherehe lived for the rest of his life with his son and his family. He marriedELIZABETH PENNEY , daughter of ROBERT PENNEY and, on 14 July 1813 inOwermoigne, Dorsetshire. He died on 16 April 1879 in Kenosha, WI, at age89. He was buried in Salem Mound Cemetery, Salem, Wisconsin. (Note:Daryl Stephenson's noted date of death as 8/16/1879. Elizabeth died in1843 and was buried at Wareham Area of Dorsetshire.)
