4. | Elias Horry was born in 1664 in Charentin, France (son of Jean Horry and Madelaine DuFrene); died on 20 Sep 1736 in Charleston, South Carolina. Notes:
Elias Horry fled to Holland when his father was imprisoned following the
revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685. From Holland, he went to
England, then sailed to America with other French Huguenots and settled
in South Carolina about 1691. He died of Yellow Fever in Charleston in
1736, and was buried in the French Protestant (Huguenot) churchyard.
Elias married Margaret Huger on 29 Jan 1705 in Craven County, South Carolina. Margaret (daughter of Daniel Huger and Margaret Perdriau) was born on 21 Feb 1678 in Rochelle, France; died in 1730. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
