Under Ian Mor 16th chief Marion is said to bethe 12th Clanranald's wife. However under the 12 Calanranald it says hiswife was Moire daughter of Sir Rory Mor 16th Macleod, but Sir Rory wasthe 15th Chief who has no daughters listed.

    Notes:

    A friend tells me
"I have the book "The History of the MacDonalds and Lords of the Isles"and is an excellent reference, however, some of the people are missing, and are to be found elsewhere. From this book:
("The History of the MacDonalds and Lords of the Isles". by AlexanderMacKenzie. He also wrote books on the MacLeods and the MacKenzies.)

    Donald MacDonald, eleventh of Clanranald,
He married his cousin, Moir, or Marion, daughter of John MacLeod, XIV, ofMacLeod, and sister of Roderick MacLeod, XV, and John MacLeod XVI ofMacLeod, all three of whom followed each other in succession, as chiefsof MacLeod.

    By her he had issue
    John, who died in infancy,
Allan, who succeeded his father as XII of the family, Ranald, whosucceeded his brother Allan as XIII Chief,
Margaret who married Donald MacDonald third of Benbecula, who afterwardsbecame head of the clan, and succeeded to the estates as XIV ofClanranald and nearest
male heir on the death of Ranald.
    Two others Marion and
Janet both of whom died without issue.

Donald died in 1686 on the Island of Canna and was buried at Tomar. Hewas succeeded by his second and eldest surviving son, Allan."

This John Macleod 14th father of Roderick 15th & John 16th, seems tocorrespond to Burke's Landed Gentry under Macleod of Macleod to Ian Mor16th father of Roderick 17th & Ian Breac 18th

In Burke's it is John 12th of Clanranald who married Moire 3rd daughterof Sir Rory Mor Maclead 16th chief.

In Burke's under Macdonald of Clanranald it is Donald 13th Chief who diesin 1686

I used Burke's information because I happened to find it first, but Ihave no idea which is more accurate.

John married Moire Macleod on 15 Feb 1613. Moire (daughter of Roderick Ruairidh Mor (Sir) 15th Chief Macleod and Isabell (of Glengarry) Macdonald) and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  3. 13.  Moire Macleod (daughter of Roderick Ruairidh Mor (Sir) 15th Chief Macleod and Isabell (of Glengarry) Macdonald); and died.

    Notes:

In Burke's under the 12 Calanranald it says his wife was Moire daughterof Sir Rory Mor 16th Macleod, but Sir Rory was the 15th Chief who has nodaughters listed.

under Donald Macdonald 13th of Clanranald, Marion is his wife plus hertwo other husbands are listed but it says she was daughter of Ian MorMacleod 17th Chief, but Ian Mor was the 16th Chief, and it says 17thChief d.s.p.. Under Ian Mor 16th chief Marion is said to be the 12thClanranald's wife.
