"John Alymer Barnewall. (born 1812 Ireland), married Eleanor Saunders (Ellen as she become known was born 1823 Dublin Ireland) daughter of Johnand Catherine Saunders (nee Doudle) on the 18th May 1840 at Kello, CountyMeath Ireland.
They came to Australia on the Resourse, arriving in Port Jackson, Sydneyon 22nd Dec 1842. and travelled overland to Victoria.
Their children are as follows
1. Catherine Lucy Barnewall born 13th Dec 1841 in Ireland. MarriedRobert Rennie the 8th Nov 1875 at Upper Thornton, Victoria. Died1920 at Mansfield, Victoria.
2. Barbara Mary Barnewall born 7th Jan at Muddy Creek Victoria. MarriedThomas Tossell 1864. Thomas died in 1868. Barbara remarried in 1878, hersecond husband was John George Downey. Barbara died at Thornton,Victoria on 5th April 1879. She had been diagnosed with Diphtheria on the30th March and gave birth to a son on the 2nd of April, regrettably hedied too. They were buried together at Darlingford Victoria.
3. Eleanor Victoria Barnewall born 24th June 1845 at Thornton. Shemarried William Mc Martin in 1864. They celebrated they marriage in adouble wedding with Barbara and Thomas Tossell at the BarnewallHomestead. Eleanor died on the 3rd Dec 1938.
4. Sarah Barnewall was born on the 7th Feb 1848. she died infancy 1848.
5. John Robert Barnewall born 14th April 1850 at Upper ThorntonVictoria. Married Grace Blennerhassett on the 14th October 1884 atEssendon Victoria. He died on the 23rd September 1936.
6.Marietza Agnes Barnewall, born 30th June 1854 at Muddy Creek. MarriedRobert Augustine Nicholas on the 14th of October 1878 at Upper Thornton.Robert died 10th Dec 1895 and was buried at Darlingford Vict. Marietzadied on 31st October 1931 at 99 Roberts Street Northcote Victoria.
7.Adeline Therese Barnewall born 14th Oct 1856. Married Francis ErnestDowney in 1878. She died on the 11th January 1947 at Gboro. Vict.
8 Elizabeth Cecelia Barnewall born 12th June 1857. Married John AylwardO'Rourke on 1884. She died at Alexandra Victoria, in the November of 1945.
9. Fancesina Barnewall born 28th April 1861 at Archeron/Yea Victoria.Died result of horse riding accident 1st May 1892 at Thornton Victoria
