- James Kincaid, merchant, burgess of Glasgow had his testament registered in the
Glasgow Commissary Court on 6 June 1661. He died in May of 1659. He left an estate
valued at ?4473.3.8. He owed debts of ?460. The deceased James Kinkaid of that Ilk
owed him ?133.6.8. which was not to be counted in the division of his estate. William
Kinkaid of Auchinreoch owed him ?59.3.8. They owed to Mr. Francis Kinkaid, scool
m[aste]r ?333.6.8. His Will was dated at Glasgow the last day of Febrary 1659 and was
noted as sick and infirm. He named his spouse Margaret Findlay his only executor and
tutor testamentar to Francis, Margaret and Jeane Kinkaid his lawful bairns. Otherwise
to be Mr. Francis Kinkaid, schoollm[aste]r in Glasgow to whom he also left 500 merks.
She was now married to Hendry Bois, burgess of Edinburgh. James Kincaid left 500
merks to his eldest son, James. He left 2000 merks to his youngest son, Francis, in full
satisfaction of his bairns part. He also left 500 merks each to his two youngest daughters
Margaret and Jean Kinkaid.
