Notes |
- "2" Generation:
Cornelious McCarty, about the age of twelve was chopping wood when theIndians captured him. When he was about 26 or 27 years old, hisIndian Father informed him that he would have to return to his whitepeople as they could not take a white man into Oklahoma where theywere moving to. He was returned to the place of his capture, but thetwo homes were empty and delapidated. He was never able to find hisparents or brother again (not verified). We do know that Corneliusmarried Nancy Ann Huston Taylor. Issue: Nancy Ann McCarty, andpossibly George, Willis, and Stella McCarty.
Nancy Ann Huston Taylor was first married at age 13 to Barsey Taylorin Crawfordsville, Indiana. Issue: Possibly, Henry, Jim, Thomas -with a son Walter of Crawfordsville, and William Taylor.
Cornelius was in the 1860 Federal Census. Using the above generalinformation, he was born in 1830-1831. He was probably taken by theIndians about 1838-1839, and returned around 1852 before his marriageto Nancy. Emiline seems to have been their first child born in1853-1854. Since he was born in Ohio and so was his wife, Corneliusmust have connected with some of the families that had migrated withhis family also from Ohio.
