  1. 1.  John Andrew Douglas was born on 21 Dec 1960 in Bradford, Pa.; died on 5 Jan 2010 in Vermont Respite House.

    Notes:

Following graduation from Bradford Central Christian High School, John began an ambitious pursuit of education receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Notre Dame in 1983; an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 where he was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Society. He continued, receiving a second Master's Degree in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1992. John was also certified in Product and Inventory Management (CIPM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society; and received his Master's Certification in Project Management from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management. In 1984, John commenced work at IBM in the East Fishkill, N.Y. facility. In 1993, he transferred to the IBM facility in Essex Junction, Vt., where he continued as a Program Manager. John was a Charter Member of the Project Management Institute (Champlain Valley Chapter). In August 2009, John was proud to have reached a significant career milestone at IBM when he was inducted into the IBM Quarter Century Club. One of John's finest gifts was his passion for giving to others and helping in his community where he was known for his integrity, voice of reason and honesty. He served as Board Chair for the Pierson Library in Shelburne; was a wish grantor for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont; volunteered annually during Holiday Toys-for-Tots drive; served as Board President for Kids Safe Collaborative of Chittenden County, an organization working to improve the community's response to child abuse and neglect; served on the Vermont Catholic Charities board; taught Sunday School to the children of St. Catherine of Siena's parish; and, was an assistant football coach for the CSSU Buccaneers 5-6 team. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, but as the baseball season drew to a close, he looked forward to watching Notre Dame football games. Above all, John loved spending time at their family camp "Kinmore" on Holiday Point in North Hero. John loved boating with his children, fishing off the end of the dock and watching the loons. He was most at peace at camp, finding beauty in the gift of each sunrise, peace in the rhythm of the waves, comfort in the neverending rustle of the leaves, and the tranquility of a rising moon. The solitude of "Kinmore" was John's heaven on earth.
John is survived by his wife Kim RINGEY DOUGLAS, son Andrew Pierson DOUGLAS and daughter Bi DOUGLAS of Shelburne; mother Joan DOUGLAS, sister Ann NEWCOMBE, brother Robert DOUGLAS and his wife Kim all of Bradford, Pa.; and brother Daniel DOUGLAS and his wife Joanna of Raleigh, N.C.; sister-in-law Lisa VENTRISS and her husband Curt, brotherin-law Mark RINGEY and his wife Sue, sisters-in-law Valarie CHERRY and her husband David all of South Burlington; Andrea Ringey GRIMM of Ferrisburgh, Vt.; Katy RINGEY and her partner Karl SILLER of Portland, ME and several nieces and nephews.
