    Rebecca Mathews was born 24 September 1770 in Virginia, and died 21 July 1825 in Georgia, where she is buried in Jasper County, the foregoing dates being from her tombstone. She married in 1786, Thomas MERIWETHER, son of Francis MERIWETHER and Martha JAMIESON, who was born 29 December 1761, in Amherst County, Virginia and died in 1831 in Jasper County, Georgia, where he is buried in the Old Jordan Cemetery, near Monticello, Georgia. His grave has been marked by the DAR for his Revolutionary Service. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Meriwether were, for many years, prominent citizens of Monticello, Georgia and Jasper County, in which place they have many descendants still living. They had five children.

    Rebecca married Thomas Meriwether in 1786. Thomas (son of Francis Meriwether and Martha Jamieson) was born on 29 Dec 1761 in Amherst County, Virginia; died in 1831 in Jasper County, Georgia; was buried in Jordan Cemetery, Monticello, Jasper County, Georgia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
