    RICHARD H. DEIGHTON

    CONKLIN HILL, PA: Richard H. Deighton of Conklin Hill, a retired union carpenter, died Friday, November 15, 2002 in Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He was 89.

    Son of the late Harry and Beatrice Dexter Deighton, he was born in Milanville. He was the widower of E. Virginia Keesler Deighton who died in 2001.

    He was a former member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and was the last surviving grandson of Wayne County Civil War veteran, Charlie Dexter.

    Survivors include a son, Melvin R. and wife Elizabeth of Conklin Hill; a daughter, Shirley E. Deighton of New Bloomfield; two brothers, Don of Narrowsburg, NY and Arthur of Honesdale; four sisters, Mildred Dean of Creamton, Luella Bachota of White Lake, NY, Rose Chapman of Lake Ariel and Clara Rea of Honesdale; two grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Finerty and a brother, Charlie.

    Services were held at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale. The Rev. Matthew Wolfe of the Canaan Bible Chapel in Varden, officiated. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Damascus.
