He was a graduate of Holly Hill High School and worked for the South Carolina Highway Department at the time of a life-changing motorcycle accident in October 1972. Despite his accident and subsequent disabilities, true to his early inclinations, David was still passionate about all vehicles that were fast and loud, including go-karts, automobiles and, especially, motorcycles.
