Family/Spouse: Hatfield ?. Hatfield and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Children:
    1. 2. Elizabeth Elisabeth Hatfield Johnson Hambler  Descendancy chart to this point was born in 1815 in Maryland; died after 1860 in Muskingum County, Ohio.

Generation: 2

  1. 2.  Elizabeth Elisabeth Hatfield Johnson Hambler Descendancy chart to this point (1.1) was born in 1815 in Maryland; died after 1860 in Muskingum County, Ohio.

    Notes:

Although Elisabeth must have been very young, perhaps 15-16 years oldwhen she may have married a Mr. John Hamler, it is possible of course. Certainly more research would be appropriate in order to verify thispossibility. In her daughter, Mary Hamler Kenny's, death certificateit is stated that her father was John Hamler and her mother wasElizabeth Johnson.

"Note the birthdate (indicating the death certificate copy ofGreenbury Hatfield). I believe it should be 1841. No matter how I dothe math this doesn't come out right if he was born in 1842. Notealso the birth place. There is no Clay County in Ohio. There is aClay Township in Tuscarawas County and a Clay County in West Virginia. This helps to verify the parentage of John Blackson. This is John'sbrother." 14 Sept. 2004.
The document states that Elizabeth Hatfield was Greenbury?s mother.
Update: After another careful review of the death certificate it wasnoted that the information as to Greenbury's parentage and otherinformation was given by J.F. Blackson, probably a son, and the deathcertificate has other possible mistakes in it as pointed out byKandace Richardson above. It cannot be proven by any records in Ohiothat Greenbury's mother was Elizabeth Hatfield. The census records doindicate in 1850 that Elizabeth's probable children are living withher in Muskingum County, Ohio and their last names are Hambler alongwith her Blackstone children including Greenbury. Elizabeth Gaymarried Greenbury's brother John Blackstone/Blackson. It is noted onJohn's Army certificate for discharge it states that he was born inMuskingum County where the 1850 census occurred. There is also amarriage listing in Guernsey County of an Elizabeth Hamler marrying aMichael Blackson in 1835, which would be the correct time period forthe family in the census records where Greenbury is listed asElizabeth's son. It's possible that Greenbury's informant for thedeath certificate, probably his son, was not too familiar with thefamily since living in Kansas instead of Ohio nor was he familiar withthe particulars of Greenbury's birth state when mentioning a ClayCounty that did not exist in Ohio. Since Greenbury's middle name isHatfield, it is reasonable to understand an assumption of Elizabeth'slast name possibly being Hatfield. Although, in all likely hoodHatfield could also be Elizabeth's mother's maiden name, or even thelast name of Michael Blackson's mother, Greenbury's father. Inotherwords, one of the grandmothers of Greenbury could also be aHatfield. There are many Hatfield's settled in early Ohio in countiesnear where Greenbury grew up. More research will need to be done onthe family, and it would be prudent to keep in mind that Greenbury'sdeath certificate may not be totally correct with the information itcontains. 17 July 2006, SLJuhl, compiler.

Elizabeth married John Hambler Hamler about 1830 in Possibly Maryland Or Ohio. John was born in Possibly Maryland; died before Sep 1850 in Muskingum County, Ohio. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Generation: 3

  1. 3.  Robert Hamler Descendancy chart to this point (2.Elizabeth2, 1.1) was born in 1830 in Muskingum County, Ohio; died on 15 Oct 1880 in 46 Years Old; Muskingum County, Ohio.

    Notes:

In 1850 Census he is living with Elizabeth Blackstone Family.
Only Robert Hamler listed in the 1860-1880 Federal Census for Ohio. It's difficult to determine his true age just with these censusrecords. Robert also signed as a family witness for John A.Blackson's wife Elizabeth Gay at court per her request for a widowspension from her husband John's military record. So, it would seemthat Robert Hamler was very much involved with the Blackson Family.
