This couples youngest son George Geo Grooms was born in Kentucky.This would fit the time period of the families migration from FentressCounty, Tennessee to Casey County, Kentucky. Mock Grooms is probablyan uncle/great-uncle of John S. Grooms. He is the second oldest"Grooms" listed out of three families for Fentress County, Tennesseein the 1850 census. There are no records available at present toindicate that Mock Grooms may have been previously married, howeverfrom the birth year of Minerva compared to the birth years of severalof the oldest children it is quite feasible that there was an earliermarriage by Mock Grooms prior to the marriage to Minerva. So, havingestablished the improbability from the age of his wife Minerva, itwould seem that Mock & Minerva Grooms are probably not John S. Groomsparents. Since the family is living in Fentress County during thecensus and George was born in Kentucky the same year, we can onlysurmise as to how or why George was born in Kentucky. Perhaps on avisit?
