Issue: Lizzie, Clara Mae, EmmaMyrtle, Charles Homer, William Edgar and Bertha Ethel Tyler. WilliamS. Tyler and Nancy Ann McCarty Tyler are the grandparents of SamuelC., Harold L., Raymond L., and Nellie A. Elkins.

He enrolled at age 18, July 22, 1863 at Lebanon, Indiana asa private in Capt. Bonnell?s Co. G., 116th Regiment of IndianaVolunteers Infantry. Mustered out at Lafayette, Indiana on March 01,1864. He then re-enlisted February 08, 1865 at Lafayette, Indiana inCo. E, 150th Indiana Volunteers, and mustered out at StevensonStation, Virginia on August 05, 1865.
