Arthur Mariman, 89, a resident of Geneseo Good Samaritan Village,formerly of Cambridge, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at the village.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St.Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo. The Rev. Michael Pakula willcelebrate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Atkinson.Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Vandemore Funeral Home,Geneseo, where a scripture service will be recited at 5 p.m. Memorialsmay be left to St. Malachy's Catholic Church or Geneseo Good SamaritanVillage.
Arthur was born Dec. 8, 1915, in rural Geneseo, son of Leopold andElodie Genneberghe Mariman. He married Elsie Wirth Jan. 3, 1940, inSt. Malachy's Church, Geneseo. Arthur farmed in rural Atkinson, Oscoand Cambridge until 1961, when he moved to Cambridge. Arthur thenworked at the Henry County Highway Department for many years. Later,he owned and operated the Mariman Trucking & Shelling Co. until 1971.He then went back to work at the Henry County Highway Department until1985, when he retired.
Arthur was a member of St. Malachy's Catholic Church and the AmericanFlemish Club. He was a past member of St. Malachy's Holy Name Societyand the Geneseo Moose Lodge 990. He sponsored and bowled with theMariman Trucking & Shelling Co. for many years. Arthur enjoyed bowlingand cards.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie; son and spouse, Marvin and DorothyMariman, Silvis; daughter, Trish Lundell, North Aurora, Ill.; fivegrandchildren, Kent and Devin Mariman, Jon and Brandon Lundell andJamie Neidel; nine great-grandchildren, Kara Mariman, Alix Maner, AbbyMariman, Jessica, Nathaniel, Rachel, Bethany, Matthew and GloriaMariman; great-great-grandson, Jayden Hawkins; brother and spouse,Frank and Lucille Mariman, Moline; sister, Mary VanOpDorp, Geneseo. Hewas preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Tara Mariman;three brothers, Mel, Mader and Edward Mariman; and two sisters, SelmaCoppejans and Margaret Grypp.
