IRMA RAKESTRAW
IRMA M. RAKESTRAW, 99, of Annawan passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2007,at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m.Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. The Rev. TimothySauppe will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery,Atkinson. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at VandemoreFuneral Home, Atkinson, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.Additional visitation will be one hour prior to Mass on Thursday atthe church. Memorials may be left to Sacred Heart Catholic Church orAnnawan Alba Rescue Squad. Irma was born on Sept. 13, 1907, inAnnawan, the daughter of Edward and Hortense Dumolin Mariman. She wasvaledictorian of her Annawan High School class. Irma was united inmarriage to Harry Rakestraw in Canton, Ill., in 1943. He preceded herin death in 1950. She was employed for over 25 years at theUniversity of Iowa Hospital and Clinics working in several departmentsfrom which she retired. Irma was a member of Sacred Heart CatholicChurch, Annawan, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was an avidsports fan especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Irmaenjoyed crocheting, knitting and traveling. Survivors include onesister, Elma Rakestraw, Annawan; many nieces, nephews, great-niecesand nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
