- He grew up and attended schools in Brandon, Vt. Mike served his country for a brief time in the US Air Force, from where he received a medical discharge. He was a mason and longtime member of St. Paul's Lodge #25 in Brandon. Mike has spent several years as a member of the Shriners, and was proud to be one of the original founders of the Greater Burlington Cellar Savers. He was a lifemember of VFW Post 7823 in Middlebury; member and past commander of the American Legion Post 55 in Brandon, and life member of the D.A.V. after moving from Salisbury, to Moriah in 2002. He was a volunteer driver for the Essex County Office of the Aging and the D.A.V. Mike worked several years in automotive sales and retired from Champlain Construction in Middlebury, Vt. in 1998. His special interests were model trains and traveling in his motor home.
Mike is survived by his wife, Shirley of Moriah; two sons, Patrick of Leicester, Vt. and Christopher of Rutland, their mother Shirley of Leicester; two step-daughters, Sheryl PAQUETTE and her husband Michael of Cornwall, Vt. and Theresa FLOOD and her husband John of Red Springs, N.C.; five stepgrandsons, Dan, TYLER and Brian PAQUETTE, Levi FLOOD and his wife Alicia and Caleb FLOOD; his brothers Dan of Brandon, Raymond and his wife Aline of Brandon; his sisters, Mary TROMBLEY of Rutland, and Virginia (Polly) PELETIER of Salisbury, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son David and a step-son Robert NEWTON; his parents, sisters, Elizabeth and Marguerite (Minnie); and four brothers, Wilson, John, Robert and Patrick.
